Deuel County, Nebraska was divided from Cheyenne Co. in an election on 6 Nov. 1888.  The
two names on the ballot for the new county were Cody after Buffalo Bill and Deuel after Harry
P. Deuel a division supervisor for the Union Pacific Railroad.

All evidence points to the fact that Cody and Deuel were second cousins and didn't know it.

This information was obtained from the county clerk Chappell, Deuel County, Nebraska and the
records kept at the Buffalo Bill Museum at Cody Wyoming.
