I would like to thank Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak, for including Cindy in her new book
Honoring Our Ancestors: Inspiring Stories of the Quest for Our Roots. Megan first
approached me with the idea in March, to include the eulogy I gave for Cindy, among 50
stories of unique ways people have paid tribute to others. This wonderful book (which
includes the picture of Cindy and me at Cedar Lawn) is now in print and is available in all
the major chains such as Barnes & Noble, Borders, and Books-a-Million and can be
ordered at Amazon.com. Megan has also written two articles with Cindy's story in
Ancestry magazine and Ancestry Daily News (9/11 issue).

Megan felt an instant connection with Cindy, but not because of genealogy alone. Megan
played an extra in Cindy's favorite movie "Contact." She wrote that, "Cindy's
fascination with the theme of the movie gives me a more complete picture of her than so
many photos ever could." Since Megan has contacted me I have found refuge in
imagining Cindy is safe among the stars, where she dreamed of one day traveling. As
Megan wrote recently, "I can?t separate Cindy in my mind from ?Contact? ? I?ve
mentally replaced Jodie Foster with her ? and I truly believe she knows all you?ve done
to honor her memory. You are brother and sister for eternity."
Megan's kind words, genealogy advice and tributes to Cindy have meant the world to
us. It is with the help of many special people like Megan that I have been able to honor
Cindy's memory. Thank You!
