Harry Porter Deuel's father, Charles Duel, is in the 1860 census for Elmwood,
Peoria, IL:
Charles Duel 53 Farmer NY (index says NJ but I think it's NY)
Lucy H. Duel 44 (which fits Lucy H. Porter) NY
Cleminia (?) Duel 48 NY
Also in the 1860 census for Elmwood is a Benjamin Duel 60 Ohio who is probably
the same as the Benjamin Deuel 53 VT in the 1850 census for Elmwood.
So it looks like there may be a VT connection for Charles, there are not too many
Deuels at that time in IL. If you look for Cleminia Duel on IGI the only hit is for a
Clemenia Deuel b. ca. 1811 in NY, so that matches very well, her parents are Philip
Deuel and Sarah Babcock. She has a brother Charles Deuel born ca. 1805 and that
matches Peoria Charles fairly well. I don't know Philip's line but there aren't too
many Philip Deuels around, the first name plus the Benjamin from VT in Elmwood
lead me to believe that Harry Porter Deuel is descended from Philip5 and that there
may be a bunch of descendants of Philip5 who are not well traced. Philip5 died in
Halfmoon in 1812 so he may have had some descendants who stayed behind in NY
instead of going to Alburg. The whole business also makes me think again of
Richland Henry, who was born in VT in the right decade if not the right year.
Does Harry Porter Deuel descend from
Philip5(Joseph4-3) the Alburg, VT Deuels
